Why we love it
What we love about Leopard Trails is their passion and commitment to offering the best safari experience possible in Sri Lanka. Their guiding team is fantastic and their passion and energy is contagious. There are other options to stay in luxury lodges and do game drives but for us Leopard Trails offer the best safari experience from start to finish.
Another important reason for recommending Leopard Trails is that Yala has got a bad name for itself for being a very busy national park. But the Leopard Trails guides know that it’s best to avoid the pile-up of vehicles around a leopard sighting and instead head away from the traffic to search for other game with less people around.
The location of the camp is also another great reason to stay here. It’s not only close to Zone 1 (the main area) but also within a short drive of zones, 2,3,4 & 5 which offer alternative, beautiful game viewing areas.
In addition to the 8 rooms the camp has a central mess tent which is air-conditioned. This is a great place to relax between or after activities. There are sofas, books and a waiter on hand to serve drinks. Just across the sandy path is the dining tent which is used for breakfast and lunch. Most nights dinner is served outside under the stars. There is also a firepit where guests are invited to join for pre-dinner drinks and nibbles.
The camp is family-friendly and safe for children to stay at. For younger children there is the possibility to add extra beds in the parents tent so that everyone can be in one room.
